Spring Cleaning For Your Garage

We all know what happens this time of year - the traditional spring cleaning. I know far too many people who take this as an opportunity to take all the garbage from their house and dump it into their garage.

Even I have done this from time to time. Do it too much, and you’re left with this:

I’ve seen worse. Much worse.

I’ve also seen - and much more often - what a garage organizing system and an expert installation of garage floor coating can do for a space like this one:

That’s what a complete garage remodeling like the one we can do for you will net. This job was done in only a matter of 2 days in Croton on Hudson, NY. It was completely customized, with every element designed specifically for this garage.

The price is well worth it, and this s a garage you’d actually be ashamed to dump the remnants of your spring cleaning into.

The Real Difference Between Professional Garage Flooring and DIY

There are times when people will find themselves with a bit of sticker shock when it comes to our pricing for epoxy flooring and garage remodeling.

Hopefully I can explain the difference without overwhelming you with too much industry jargon and technical speak.

Let’s start with a picture that I will say more than anything I could type out:

On the left is the do-it-yourself. On the right, a poured professional grade epoxy flooring treatment.

While the left side may look okay from a distance, up close you can tell that it is paper thin and will not have the wearability of a poured floor.

Not the performance you’re looking for in your garage floor, I’m sure.

What I’ve shown you here is only the basics related to the thickness of the epoxy coating. A professional seamless flooring service such as ours is also going to take into account the many and varied issues related to concrete, such as, pre-existing moisture in your garage floor, cracks and a multitude of other highly technical issues.

Not one system can broadly cover every aspect of every garage floor situation. Garage and Beyond can confidently stand above and beyond our competition by providing solutions for many forms of concrete problems. Whether you need a decorative floor that will hold up to high traffic, a sanitary floor to address compliance requirements or an industrial floor for your manufacturing facility - We have you covered!

You’re simply not going to get this from any can of “Generic Floor Coating A” that you buy from your local home improvement center.

If you're looking for epoxy garage flooring in the New York or New Jersey area, please give us a call 866-568-5611 or send us an email.

Decorative Epoxy Flooring Over a Wood Floor in NJ

epoxy flooring, decorative concrete,  epoxy over wood, designer epoxy,  wood resurfacing, concrete resurface, nj, nyc,  nyc

Welcome to my very first blog. This project was a residence in Lake Hopatcong NJ but the same methods can be applied to any commercial space. We begin, in this case with carpet and VCT removal. Once that is completed we staple metal mesh to help eliminate the horizontal expansion and contraction associated with wood floors and to enhance bonding of the polymer concrete. We chose a highly polymer modified concrete and stay away from any gypsum based products. This will provide a new and very strong concrete canvas for us to work on.

In some cases we can stop here and just stain and or seal, but this client required a different finish. This floor was to be epoxy coated with our designer epoxy and marbled by our epoxy artisans. We then had our artist come in and paint Van Gogh murals as per our clients desire. The goal was to have the murals blend and incorporate the epoxy background as opposed to just floating on top like a sticker. Mission accomplished.

The last step was to give it a final sealer. In this occasion we decided to use our favorite polyaspartic sealer. Some ask why use polyurethane or a polyaspartic sealer. Isn't epoxy enough? Well, yes and no....it depends on which epoxy, what the floor is going to be used for and what type of maintenance do you expect to do. Like I explain to all my clients, imagine painting your new car with the best paint in the market, then not clear coating it. It will fade prematurely, stain easily and be difficult to keep and maintain clean. Same with your floor. I'll go into deeper detail on my next blog. :)

So there you go, 3000 sqft in 6 days, we successfully converted this plywood surface into a unique custom designed seamless and impervious work of art.
